about

Wild, native bees create nests within grooved blocks of wood. These condo dwellers are the last of the year's leaf cutters and other stem and cavity-nesting solitary bees to create their linear rows of brood cells. They've chosen routed blocks put out by researcher Peter Hallett at The Toronto Zoo off-site area, where they nest side by side and work alone (ah, the condo life!). A vibrational sensor and custom-made amplifier convey their nesting activities as they place leaves, mud, plant resins and pebbles (nest materials), and pollen (nest provisions). An ASMR listening experience for those who prefer their sounds quiet, subtle and crisp!
